Louie Mantia, artist extraordinaire. If you’ve never heard that name before, you’re probably new here. :) A creative genius, Mantia has created many wonderful pieces of work. He’s done very successful commercial work, amazing stuff for public use and even works now with Tapulous.com. Some of the stuff that’s close to me are the wallpapers (Dark Knight wallpaper for example featured in my screenshot) and the Agua icon set for iPhone/iPod Touch co-created with David Lanham.
Ive found that the best of his works have 3 things in common: simplicity, universality, and unity. His style is very fresh and clean; using shadows and reflections sparingly and color that doesn’t scare people away. Everyone can appreciate the beauty of his work and if not all, then many of his icons and wallpapers are able to co-exist peacefully with any look you got going on with your Mac or iPod Touch/iPhone. Finally, one thing that you’ll notice when using anything he’s put out, is how meticulous to the details he is when constructing concepts that match and how good they look as well. Everything matches with not only your desktop/springboard, but with itself at the same time. Haven’t you ever come across a theme where the icons, wallpapers, or both have you saying wtf? Not this guy.
So, if you haven’t already checked him out, I suggest you do that right now. His website is over on the right hand side under Nifty Clicks for Mac. For now though, here’s a nice sample of the great artist:
